Operator - (2015)
Cinematography skilfully captures the gritty and intense atmosphere of a busy emergency call centre, utilising close ups to convey the urgency and emotional depth of the narrative.
Sound design: Featuring a mix of ambient noise, phone conversations and the protagonist's internal thoughts, adds depth and authenticity to the film. Additionally, the production design captures the mundane and claustrophobic setting of the call centre, contributing to the overall realism and immersion of the story
3 Act structure:
1st = Introduces the 999 call centre operator, establishing the central conflict. Effectively conveys the high-stress environment and the emotional toll the job takes on her
2nd = Delves deeper into the escalating conflict as she receives a distressing call that challenges her emotionally and professionally. Builds tension and intensifies the audience's engagement
3rd = Resolution to the story, presenting a poignant and thought provoking conclusion
Use of dialogue particularly effective, capturing the urgency and tension in the interactions between the callers.
Slowly pans around to reveal protagonist, cuts to close up, long takes building tension and chaos. Close ups of the protagonist with little camera movement allow the dialogue to be focused on and for tension and anticipation to rise for the spectator.
